The rear view hanging crucafix: Karl Magalaman

This is a crucafix that used to sit in my dad’s old car but now it hangs in my car. This is not only a religious object it also means something special to me. As a child, I would always wonder why my dad would touch this, what it seemed like an insignificant object to me at the time, before he started driving. Then one day he told me that he would pray before driving and that touching this crucafix assisted his prayer. It became sort of a ritual to him to give this crucafix a touch before he drove; maybe as a way to keep him safe. In historic terms, this crucafix is part of the Christian faith and resembles how Jesus Christ died on the cross. It is a sacred object after all.
