Located within my grandmother’s office, I was able to notice today a statue of Our Lady of Charity, or La Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre, along with two paintings of the saint. Known to be the patron saint of Cuba, one can observe the Virgin Mary holding Jesus Christ in her arms as well as a cross. Having recently celebrated el Día de la Caridad on September eighth, individuals from the Cuban heritage gather to pay respect to the Virgin Mary, asking her to protect, guide, and direct them in the proper direction.
