Religious Car Ornaments

IMG_1330

It wasn’t until we were assigned this assignment that I realized we come across religious symbols in our everyday lives. I found this symbol inside my friends car one night and asked her why she had it in her car and what was her interpretation of it’s meaning. She then told me she has the ornament in her car because this “Hamsa Hand” is used as a sign of protection to defend against the Evil eye. I then learned that the Hamsa Hand is actually a popular Jewish symbol, and the symbol is an open right hand, which is a metaphorical hand of God. Each one of the five fingers represents one of the five books of Moses.
