Karina Bravo’s Megan Project: Ornamental Elephants

A family friend began bringing my mother an awesome collection of intricately carved ivory ornaments. The superstition seems to be that the elephant should be facing the door with its trunk raised up through which folks enter the room in order to bring happiness and prosperity into the home. The lucky elephant charm is a deliberate bit of cultural exoticism found in America and Europe. The origins can be found in the Hindu religion of India.
