Should people be more educated about the feminine role/figure of women in religion?

This article calls for a change in the role that women has been playing since the beginning of times in religion. Commonly, it is often portrayed as weak, or inferior to men, among other common misinterpretations.

After studying the chapter of the different figures of women in the different religions and what it represents, do you believe religions have not portrayed women as a strong figure? Should it start educating people on the actual role and the different meanings she has and how important she is as a complement to the male figure in religion? Take into consideration all the struggle that women have undergone over time, and maybe if this is consequence of religion itself.

One response to “Should people be more educated about the feminine role/figure of women in religion?

  1. Great article. This is my takeaway. The connection between cosmogonies and how we model our societies.

“The belief that women are inferior human beings in the eyes of God,” Mr. Carter continued, “gives excuses to the brutal husband who beats his wife, the soldier who rapes a woman, the employer who has a lower pay scale for women employees, or parents who decide to abort a female embryo.”
