Phrabuddhadhammachinaraj

buddha-statue

This picture was taken in Watt Buddharangsi, the Buddhist temple in homestead. The statue is named Phrabuddhadhammachinaraj and sits 25 feet high, while also weighing over five tons. One the most common misconceptions in Buddhism, by those unfamiliar with it, is the status of Buddha himself. Lord Buddha was not a GOD and is not idolized as one, in fact, Buddhist don’t worship any idols. Instead, the purpose of creating statues such as this one is to honor Buddha and remember him. I decided to post this picture because this statue is the axis mundi of the entire temple; this statue can be considered religious because of the sacred space it creates.
