Relationship Between Religion and the Economy

John Micklethwait describes the relationship between religion and economy in this BigThink video. He mentions of how when the economy goes through some rough patches people are more inclined to go back to churches instead of thinking of a rational way to solve the issue that is present.

How often do “rational” people lead with their intuition in a situation that is void of the need for emotional or spontaneous decision making? Can religion lead our decision making? Could it lead us to make irresponsible choices in a realm that is outside of its jurisdiction?
