Movie Review

The movie ” Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee” is a movie set in the 1860s and 1870s in the American West. The plot of this movie centers around four main characters; Sitting Bull, a Sioux chief who was very set in his ways about accepting the ways of the U.S. government, Charles Eastman, a highly-educated doctor who happened to be a mixed-race Sioux, A U.S. senator named Henry L. Dawes who dealt with government policies, and Red Cloud who tried to be a peacemaker. Overall, the President of the United States and the general were trying a successfully imposed United States government policies on the Sioux people. The Sioux people’s land, way of life, and home were taken from them and the U.S. government policies were implemented in their place.  There were several attempts by Eastman and Red Cloud to make peace but all were failed attempts. It ended by the Dawes Act being implemented, hundreds of Indian men, women, and children wounded, and thousands Indians left homeless.
