How the Flu is interfering with our Worshiping Practices

With a rise in this years flu epidemic, many actions are being taken to ensure the spread does not continue. Although we tend to disregard how often we share germs, even in sacred places are we still susceptible to catching a cold. In the more northern states of America, some local churches are taking matters into their own hand and stopping the spread of germs during worship.

While we are used to receiving the blood of Christ from the same chalice, this has now come to an end. Since this is one of the easiest ways to spread germs, some churches found that it might be more sanitary to suspend this action. Alongside of banning the sharing of communion, the act of shaking hands and greeting each other during the peace is now frowned upon unless using hand sanitizer. More churches have made hand sanitizer more available either at the beginning or before the peace.

Many priests are hoping that with these new practices the spread of germs will minimize and this flu season can end sooner!
