I have an obsession with getting new tattoos. I normally don’t get them any day or moment, I have a specific time when I get tattooed. I only get a new tattoo when my mom comes to visit me. During spring break, she came to visit me and I already had in mind what I wanted. As you can see in the picture, “Seja Luz” means “Be Light” in Portuguese. I really wanted the tattoo for the meaning I personally put on it. “Be light in the life of others” its what this tattoo meant to me, but soon I realized that for many others this was a religious symbol. People would start to say things like “You are Christian Right?”. But I really did not understood why. As I started to look and research about Bible versicles I came across this one: “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven (Matthew 5:16)”. “Be Light” suddenly became more than just a tattoo that I liked, it became a way of spreading the gospel. Now its a religious symbol. Every time I look at it I remind to my self that wherever I go, doesn’t matter where, I have the power to change it because I am Light, I carry God inside me. I know when people read this tattoo that I carry, it changes their day and reminds them to bee good, to be kind, to be happy, to be the light in someones life. I just realize that I don’t have to look around to find any religious symbol, I carry them on my skin.
Remember, be light.
