EGYPTIAN TV HOST SENTENCED FOR 12 MONTH IN PRISON FOR INTERVIEWING A HOMOSEXUAL

Mohammed Al-Gheiti was sentenced for 12 month in prison only because he interviewed a gay man, which lead to people believing that he was promoting homosexuality. He was also accused of disrespecting his and the country’s religion. As Islam in Egypt is the dominant religion with around 90% of the population being Muslims. In Islam, homosexuality is not considered a normal thing or even considered a sin in that case. thus, he was accused of disrespecting it.

Al-Gheiti even have to pay a fine of $167 and was also under surveillance for one year, once he was done with his jail time.

Despite, Egypt being an Muslim dominant country, they should still give freedom to their own people. If the court hadn’t sentenced him a year of jail time, maybe that interview would have enlightened people in Egypt that how homosexuality is actually coming into being. Also, the fact that it does exist and one can’t change it.
